Feggendorfer Stollen
Lauenau, Niedersachsen
In the Deister hills near Feggendorf, visitors can go underground in an old hard-coal mine. Driving of the tunnel began in 1831, and its coal supplied brickworks, lime kilns, salt works and smithies in the surrounding area. Restoration has been under way since 2003, and it now works as a teaching and visitor mine.
