Haus der Kunst

München, Bayern

Modern and contemporary art is shown at this exhibition house at the southern edge of the Englischer Garten, which has no collection of its own. The monumental neoclassical building, 175 metres long, went up between 1933 and 1937 as the Haus der Deutschen Kunst at Hitler's behest. The architecture is part of what visitors come to see.
