More than 300,000 coins, banknotes, tokens and medals, from antiquity to the present day, make up Bavaria's main numismatic collection. It is housed in the Munich Residenz. Its roots lie in a ducal cabinet of curiosities of the 16th century, which already held over 7,000 coins by the end of that century.
