Hamburger Genossenschaftsmuseum
Hamburg, Hamburg
Housed in the trade union building on Besenbinderhof, this museum traces 175 years of cooperative history, with a focus on consumer cooperatives. The core of the display is the Hamburg "Pro", founded in 1899, which quickly grew into one of the largest consumer cooperatives in the world. It also shows why Hamburg was a centre of the cooperative economy, as the base of the wholesale society GEG.
