Galerie Neue Meister
Dresden, Sachsen
Around 300 paintings from the 19th century to the present hang in the Albertinum, above the Brühl Terrace. The core is German Romanticism, middle-class Realism and Impressionism, with works by Otto Dix, Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet among them. A number of sculptures from the same period are shown too. The collection grew out of Dresden's old picture gallery, which began buying contemporary art in 1843.
