Fridericianum
Kassel, Hessen
Completed in 1779, this building on Friedrichsplatz was among the first public art museums on the European continent, built to show the Hessian landgraves' collections alongside their library. Today it works as a kunsthalle for contemporary art and is the centre of the documenta every five years.
