Fraunhofer-Glashütte

Benediktbeuern, Bayern

Joseph von Fraunhofer worked on optical glass here from 1807 to 1819, in the original glassworks on the grounds of the former Benediktbeuern monastery. A small exhibition recalls those years, including the new grinding machines and the streak-free glass types Fraunhofer developed, which greatly improved the quality of lenses.
