Franz Marc Museum

Kochel am See, Bayern

Franz Marc called the countryside around Kochel his Blue Land, and this museum sits in the place that inspired him. You will find over 150 works from his estate, along with loans, personal belongings and written documents. Pieces by friends such as Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter set his work in the context of the Blue Rider circle. The building dates from 2008 and was designed by Swiss architects Diethelm & Spillmann.
