Filmmuseum Schloss Ballenstedt

Ballenstedt, Sachsen-Anhalt

In the north wing of Ballenstedt castle, this museum traces more than 130 years of film history with projectors, cameras and accessories, and film posters. Highlights include equipment developed by Edison and Pathé, a magic lantern from 1890 and a sound-film projector for 35 mm film from 1936, about 1.8 metres tall. It grew out of a brother and sister's private collection, set up here in 2002.
