Dommuseum Salzburg
Salzburg, Salzburg
Housed in the south oratory of Salzburg Cathedral, this diocesan museum gathers church art from the Archdiocese of Salzburg spanning the 8th to the 18th century. You will find liturgical vessels from the cathedral treasury, along with Gothic and Baroque paintings and sculptures from local churches and monasteries, including work by Meinrad Guggenbichler, Georg Raphael Donner, Johann Michael Rottmayr and Paul Troger. The highlight is the Rupertus Cross from Bischofshofen, the largest surviving metal cross of the first Christian millennium, probably made in southern England around the mid-8th century.
