Neue Residenz

Salzburg, Salzburg

Archbishop Wolf Dietrich had this building put up east of the cathedral from 1588 as a companion to the Residenz, tearing down townhouses and canons' houses to make room. It was also known as the Palazzo Nuovo. The wings around the northern courtyard were finished around 1602, and further ranges around a southern courtyard followed. It stands in Salzburg's old town.
