Besucherbergwerk Kilianstollen

Marsberg, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Tours lead into a disused copper mine in Marsberg, entered through an adit driven in 1842, and bring 1,400 years of copper mining and 400 million years of earth history to life. You see minerals, old workings and relics of early mining, along with colourful deposits: blue and green from copper, yellow and orange from sulphur and iron. The guided visit also explains how the ore deposit formed, how it was mined and how the ore was smelted.
