Schreibersches Haus

Bad Arolsen, Hessen

One of the oldest buildings in the residence town holds paintings and graphic works by the family of painters around Wilhelm von Kaulbach. A town history section uses documents, models and a picture gallery by court painter Friedrich Wilhelm Maul to tell how the town arose in the 18th century. The banqueting hall, carved by Johann Friedrich Valentin, Rauch's first teacher, is counted among the finest in Hesse. The upper-floor rooms keep early Neoclassical wall decoration.
