Ausseer Kammerhofmuseum

Bad Aussee, Steiermark

This local museum in the Kammerhof is devoted to the history and folk culture of the Ausseerland. The building was first mentioned in 1395 and served as the salt office until 1926. Much of its original fabric survives, including window and door frames from around 1530. The highlight is the Kaisersaal, with frescoes of 1740 to 1756 showing landscapes around Bad Aussee, Altaussee and Grundlsee.
