Alte Pinakothek

München, Bayern

Leo von Klenze designed this gallery, which was regarded as the most modern museum building of its day when it opened in 1836. Inside are Old Master paintings from the Middle Ages to the mid-18th century, a collection that goes back to Duke Albrecht V in the 16th century. The Neue Pinakothek stands opposite, part of Munich's Kunstareal.
