Wiesentäler Textilmuseum

Zell im Wiesental, Baden-Württemberg

Under the saw-tooth roofs of a former weaving mill on the banks of the Wiese, this museum tells the story of the textile industry in the Wiesental. From the early 19th century it shaped the valley between Basel and Todtnau, until it declined in the second half of the 20th century. You learn how manufacturing families from Switzerland and Alsace left their mark on the valley, and about the textile work done by women. The galleries cover more than 1,000 square metres.
