Weinbau- und Fahnenschwingermuseum

Neckenmarkt, Burgenland

Flag swinging in Neckenmarkt is a custom going back to 1620, when local farmers received a flag from Prince Nikolaus Esterházy for their part in the Battle of Lackenbach. Young men still swing it on the Sunday after Corpus Christi, in historic Hajduk uniform. The museum, in the town hall, tells this story and shows how winegrowing, important here since the Middle Ages, has changed. A vinotheque is part of it.
