Schloss Deutschkreutz
Deutschkreutz, Burgenland
Four wings, two-storey arcades around the courtyard and corner towers give this Renaissance castle in central Burgenland its character; the Hungarian border at Sopron is only about five kilometres away. Inside you can see stucco work and the castle chapel with old frescoes, along with furniture and tapestries. A medieval fortress was turned into an Italian-style palace in the 16th century. Its longtime owner, the painter Anton Lehmden, also showed his paintings here.
