Tötungsanstalt Grafeneck

Gomadingen, Baden-Württemberg

Above Gomadingen on the Swabian Jura, Grafeneck Castle became a site of Nazi mass killing in 1940. Under the Action T4 programme, more than 10,000 people with disabilities, mostly from Bavaria, Baden and Württemberg, were murdered here. It was among the first places where victims were killed in a gas chamber using carbon monoxide. Today the site serves as a memorial to those who died.
