Sztolnie Kowary

Kowary, dolnośląskie

This is a walk underground through the former Liczyrzepa uranium mine, along a route of about 1,200 metres. After the Second World War the mine produced uranium that was sent to the USSR; once mining ended in 1973, Wrocław University of Technology used it for research and student classes. Thirteen dosimetry points along the route are continuously monitored by the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Łódź, which keeps the visit safe. The mine has been open to visitors since 2000.
