Storchenturm-Museum

Zell am Harmersbach, Baden-Württemberg

This stone tower, about 25 metres tall and built around 1330, is all that remains of Zell's old town fortifications. Inside, roughly 800 square metres of displays cover local history, traditional customs and crafts. Among the pieces are a Basel Dance of Death in Zizenhausen terracotta, an orchestrion and porcelain from the Zell faience factory. The bell from the demolished lower gate, known as the poor sinners' bell, also hangs here, and storks once nested on the roof, which gave the tower its name.
