Stadtmuseum Hofgeismar

Hofgeismar, Hessen

Four buildings around Petriplatz hold this local history museum, which covers Hofgeismar and its surroundings: Huguenots and Waldensians, the garrison, guilds and trade, prehistory, Reinhardswald pottery, geology and habitats. The painters Theodor Rocholl and Wilhelm Hugues and the ceramicist Rolf Weber each have a section. The Judaica department on Jewish history, religion and culture in northern Hesse is the largest in Hesse after Frankfurt's.
