Right on the Museumsufer, on the Sachsenhausen bank of the Main, the Städel holds some 3,100 paintings running from the Middle Ages to the present day. Alongside them are about 660 sculptures and more than 4,600 photographs. Over 100,000 drawings and prints can be consulted in a dedicated reading room. With roughly 7,000 square metres of display space, it can easily fill a day in Frankfurt.
