Staatsgalerie Stuttgart

Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg

The neoclassical original building of 1843 shows painting from the high Middle Ages onward and sculpture from the 19th century, alongside a large collection of prints and drawings. Next to it stands James Stirling's Postmodern Neue Staatsgalerie, opened in 1984, a landmark worth seeing in itself. Together they offer centuries of art in two very different architectural settings.
