SPSG / Schloss Sanssouci

Potsdam, Brandenburg

This was Frederick the Great's favourite retreat, where he liked to withdraw with his dogs: Sanssouci, his summer residence on the vineyard terraces. The rooms still hold their original 18th-century furnishings, elegant and richly styled. The picture gallery and the New Chambers belong to the palace. The king's grave lies on the uppermost terrace, as he wished to rest close to his Sanssouci, a wish fulfilled only in 1991.
