Schubert Geburtshaus
Wien, Wien
Franz Schubert was born in this house in 1797, the twelfth of fourteen children of a schoolmaster and a cook. The family stayed only until 1801 before moving to Säulengasse nearby. Much of the top floor now follows the composer's life, his musical development and his circle of friends. Among the things on show are a pair of his spectacles, and one room hangs several portraits of him.
