Schloss vor Husum

Husum, Schleswig-Holstein

Husum's palace is the only surviving castle on Schleswig-Holstein's west coast. It began as a secondary seat of the Gottorf dukes, later served now and then as a residence of the Danish royal family, and for a long time housed government offices. Today you can tour it as a palace museum, and it also works as a cultural centre. In spring the park around it fills with crocuses, drawing visitors from across the region.
