Schloss Veitshöchheim
Veitshöchheim, Bayern
Set within one of Germany's most important Rococo gardens, this was the summer residence of the prince-bishops of Würzburg, just 8 km down the Main from the city. Visitors tour the historically furnished upper-floor rooms, including the prince-bishop's apartment and the rooms arranged around 1810 for Grand Duke Ferdinand of Tuscany. Highlights include stucco ceilings by Antonio Bossi and staircase sculptures by Johann Peter Wagner. A permanent exhibition on the ground floor tells the history of the court garden.
