Jüdisches Kulturmuseum Veitshöchheim
Veitshöchheim, Bayern
The complex in the village centre combines a baroque synagogue built in 1730, with its central bimah and Torah shrine, a former Jewish dwelling and a newer building. The synagogue was turned into a fire station in 1940 and later restored from original fragments found in the floor and photographs from 1926. The exhibition, titled Schauplatz Dorf, portrays Jewish life in Franconia, which shaped the region for three centuries.
