Schloss Neuschwanstein

Schwangau, Bayern

High above the Pöllat gorge, Ludwig II began building this fairy-tale castle in 1869 in the Romanesque Revival style, modelled on medieval knights' castles. The three-winged complex was built up to 1892, and the throne room, bedroom and Singers' Hall are the highlights. Since 2025 it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of King Ludwig II's palaces.
