Schaubergwerk Volle Rose

Ilmenau, Thüringen

In the Schorte valley south of Ilmenau, a mine railway carries visitors into the Volle Rose tunnel, a former working adit about 350 metres long. Guided tours explain the machinery and mining methods once used here. The area was historically mined for fluorspar, barite and manganese.
