Radiomuseum "Radiowelt"
Innsbruck, Tirol
Eight decades of radio history, from the 1920s onward, fill this private museum in Innsbruck. Around 450 pieces range from crystal sets and People's Receivers to portable radios, gramophones, tape recorders, record players and radio furniture. Highlights include Tyrol's first transmitter, built in 1927, and Austria's first portable tape recorder from 1947. There is also a corner of oddly shaped and coloured radios, a workshop with its measuring instruments and a library on the technical and cultural history of radio. Visits and tours are arranged by phone, and admission is free.
