Muzeum Walki i Męczeństwa „Palace” w Zakopanem

Zakopane, małopolskie

The cellars of the Palace hotel in Zakopane once housed a Gestapo torture prison during the Second World War, and now hold a museum about its prisoners. Displays include photographs, documents, shackles and recollections of those held here, and some inscriptions survive on the walls. It was founded on the initiative of a former prisoner, Dr Wincenty Galica. The setting is the original cellar rooms, and the visit is a sombre one.
