A large art museum in a modernist building on Aleje Jerozolimskie, completed in 1938. Its galleries cover ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman art, Polish painting from the Middle Ages onward, and foreign painting from Italian, French, Dutch, German and Russian schools. There are also numismatic and decorative arts collections. The museum dates from 1862.
