Muzeum Kowalstwa w Warszawie

Warszawa, mazowieckie

A small oak-frame smithy with dovetailed corners stands at the edge of the Dolinka Służewiecka valley in Mokotów. Its 30 square metres hold the kind of tools and equipment that suburban Mazovian blacksmiths used in the early twentieth century. A master carpenter hewed the building in the 1980s, and what began as an artist's forge opened to visitors in the late 1990s. It is still run by a working master blacksmith, so the craft is explained by someone who practises it.
