Muzeum Bitwy Legnickiej w Legnickim Polu

Legnickie Pole, dolnośląskie

This museum is devoted to the battle against the Mongols fought on 9 April 1241, in which Duke Henry II the Pious was killed. It occupies a Gothic former Benedictine church from the 14th century, said to stand where the duke's body was found. A four-part exhibition covers the background to the battle, the sources describing the invasion and its memory in Silesia, and includes replicas of Polish and Mongol weapons.
