Muzeum Miedzi w Legnicy

Legnica, dolnośląskie

If copper means little more to you than wiring and coins, this museum tells a much bigger story: how it was mined and smelted, and how it ended up in crafts, art and industry. It occupies the baroque former residence of the abbots of Lubiąż, and also shows exhibitions in part of the Knights' Academy building. Alongside the copper displays is a history of Legnica and its surroundings from prehistory to the present, with archaeology, art and coin collections. The museum also runs a pavilion in the courtyard of the Piast Castle, where you can see remains of the castle chapel dating from 1220.
