Musikinstrumentenmuseum Lißberg

Ortenberg, Hessen

Hurdy-gurdies and bagpipes are the heart of this museum of musical instruments: around 170 of them, from Sweden, Eastern Europe, Scotland, Germany, Italy, Spain and North Africa. Instruments are grouped by family, with sound samples explaining how they developed. Highlights include a Nürnbergisch Geigenwerk of 1575 and a musette de cour by Nicolas Chédeville. At a reconstructed Renaissance music table, visitors can try instruments themselves.
