Museum Starnberger See

Starnberg, Bayern

The story of Lake Starnberg runs through this museum, from the courtly festivals of Bavaria's rulers to the time when Munich townspeople settled along the shore, and the plain everyday life of fishermen and farmers. The court festivals centred on the splendid ship Bucentaur, built in 1662. The museum opened in 1914 and is housed in the Lochmannhaus, an old farmhouse and fisherman's house whose history reaches back to the early 16th century.
