Museum in der Majolika-Manufaktur

Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg

Around 2,000 ceramic pieces trace the Karlsruhe Majolika manufactory from 1901 to the present, from historicism and Art Nouveau through Art Deco and Bauhaus to contemporary work. Mass-produced items sit beside one-off pieces, along with fountains and architectural ceramics. Staged scenes, such as a faithful reconstruction of a 1930s department-store window, bring everyday life into it. The museum lies in the Hardtwald, not far from the palace.
