Vechta, Niedersachsen
This history museum occupies the old arsenal in Vechta's Zitadellenpark. The building is one of only two survivors of the citadel that was demolished in 1769; the other, the caponier, now stands in the middle of the town centre. A visit combines local history with a look at a surviving piece of the fortress. The museum opened in 1997.
