Historisches Glasapparatemuseum Cursdorf

Cursdorf, Thüringen

Glass tubes for science: Cursdorf was home to glass apparatus makers who became known worldwide for thermometers, X-ray technology and physics teaching equipment. The museum in the village community house not only displays their gas discharge tubes but demonstrates them in operation, so visitors see the glowing effects for themselves. It recalls Heinrich Geißler, who introduced the gas discharge tube to science in 1857, and the Cursdorf family firms.
