Museum für Kindheits- und Jugendwerke bedeutender Künstler

Halle (Westf.), Nordrhein-Westfalen

The walls here carry works that famous artists made as children and teenagers, among them August Macke, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Pablo Picasso, Otto Dix, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Emil Nolde and Albrecht Dürer. The museum occupies a rubble-stone building from 1246 on the church square in the heart of Halle, said to be the oldest building in town. Special shows often set early works beside the same artists' mature output, or beside ordinary children's drawings.
