Markus-Röhling-Stolln

Annaberg-Buchholz, Sachsen

In the Annaberg mining district, you can go underground in the Markus Röhling adit at Frohnau, beside the Sehma river. It was driven in the 16th century to drain the mines on the Schreckenberg, and later yielded large quantities of silver and cobalt ore. Parts of the tunnel system are now open as a visitor mine.
