LWL-Museum in der Kaiserpfalz

Paderborn, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Right beside Paderborn Cathedral, this museum presents finds from the Carolingian, Ottonian and Saxon periods. The building stands on the foundations of an eighth-century palace and a later complex from the time of Henry II, both uncovered during construction work in 1964, and the older masonry can still be made out in the walls. Next door, reconstructed foundations trace the outline of Charlemagne's palace.
