Langobardenwerkstatt Zethlingen

Kalbe (Milde), Sachsen-Anhalt

On the Mühlenberg near Zethlingen, an open-air archaeological museum stands on the very ground where almost 2,000 cremation graves from the late Roman and Migration periods were excavated. Since 1990 the site has served as an experimental area, testing things like iron smelting, house building, pottery firing, lime burning and textile techniques. It is an outpost of the Danneil Museum in Salzwedel.
