Freilichtmuseum Diesdorf

Diesdorf, Sachsen-Anhalt

Across some six hectares, a miniature Altmark village has been assembled: more than 25 farmhouses and farm buildings grouped into typical farmstead layouts, with a post windmill, a smithy and a half-timbered chapel, plus farm gardens, ponds and fields. Exhibitions on hop growing, flax processing, textile handicrafts and coopering show how people in the region lived between the 17th and 20th centuries. Founded in 1911, it is among the oldest open-air folk museums in Germany.
