Historisches Museum auf Burg Pappenheim

Pappenheim, Bayern

The old arsenal of Pappenheim castle, the Preißingerhaus, now holds a museum on the town's history from the 8th to the 19th century, told on 32 display panels. One section is devoted to Field Marshal Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim, whose regiment gave rise to the line "Daran erkenn ich meine Pappenheimer" in Schiller's Wallenstein. Upstairs is the Ahnensaal, furnished with medieval furniture and paintings; the cellar has a torture chamber. The building has medieval roots and a Gothic stepped gable.
