Hetjens-Museum

Düsseldorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Ceramics up to 8,000 years old, from every part of the world, are gathered in this Düsseldorf museum. It grew out of the estate of the collector Laurenz Heinrich Hetjens, who was especially fond of Rhenish stoneware from the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods and even took part in excavations himself. Open since 1909, it covers the history of ceramics in its full breadth.
