Heimatmuseumim Liebenwalde im ehemaligen Stadtgefängnis

Tucked behind high walls just beyond the town hall, this local museum occupies the old town jail. Barred windows, peepholes and food hatches in the doors, and inscriptions and paintings left by former prisoners on walls and stoves set the mood. The cells hold displays on shipping, especially the Finow Canal, on the history of Liebenwalde and its villages, on church, school, fire brigade, clubs, crafts and trades, and on the Heidekrautbahn railway. One genuine prison cell remains, and the former jail yard is now the museum courtyard.
